About Ascend Church
Welcome to Ascend Church! We began in 1838 as First Baptist Church of Howell. Since then the church has been a pillar in the Howell community. Ascend is a place where people from all walks of life come together to worship, learn, and support one another. At Ascend Church, we are committed to helping people experience the love of Jesus Christ and to share that love with their neighbor. We believe Christ's love for us transforms lives and makes a positive impact in our community. Join us for our weekly services, community events, and outreach programs to experience the joy of belonging to a loving church family focused on being a blessing to our community.

Pastor Garth joined Ascend Church in June of 2025. Garth came on board not only to pastor the church but to help it grow and have a significant impact on Howell. His vision for Ascend Church is to be a blessing to the local community. Garth is married to his wife Kylie with four children in their home. He enjoys playing ice hockey, reading, being active and spending time with friends and family. Garth received his Master of Divinity from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary.
